Hoping the 29 x 2.6 is a better match. I stuck a yardstick behind my 29x2.6 XR4 on an i30 rim and eyeballing it, it's a bit over 29 1/2 inches tall. My 27.5x3 i36 wheel is just a bit over 28 3/4. So about 3/4 inch taller. Figure half of that for rise in BB.

Pros. Fastest top-end speed when compared to the 26 and the 27.5”. The 29” bikes offer the most forgiving ride when it comes to traveling over rocks, bumps and roots. Larger wheels result in less suspension needed to travel, which results in a decrease in pedal bob as well as increased efficiency. Ideal for taller riders.
Not much difference between 26 and 27.5”. Just 25mm or 1 inch difference in diameter between the 2 wheel sizes. I would go with the bike you can get now. For some perspective, a 2” wide 27.5” tire will have the same diameter as a 2.5” wide 26” tire. “I fear the day technology will surpass our human interaction. 15. Nukeproof. Horizon MTB Wheelset. Word has it that the 26 mountain bike is dead (or is dying). While the rise in sales for the 27.5/ 27.5+, and the 29er are on the rise, the truth is that the 26” isn’t completely dead yet as there still are a few of these mountain bikes around.
Comparing Wheel Sizes, 29″ vs 27.5″ In general, 27.5-inch mountain bikes attain desired speed faster, are easily maneuverable, lightweight, and are more suitable for shorter riders. 29ers speed up somewhat slower but are better at retaining a certain speed, have more traction, weigh more, and are ideal for taller riders.
hi all, I'm posting this in the 29er forum because you are probably riding that wheel size. This question always seems to be an aside in debates about 27.5 vs 29 (or 26 vs 29 back in the day). Pros and cons of each, but if you are short, maybe a smaller wheel too. My current bike is a 2004 Titus Racer-X, with the standard of the time 26" wheels.
For short people, modifications become increasingly difficult and even limited as the frame size reduces. For the most vertically challenged among us (5'2" and under), modifications on 29ers are ultimately limited by a few things - namely a minimum headtube size, a minimum steerer length, and the amount of material needed in the front end of the bike to make it a safe leverage point for the fork.
(Visit any online forum, type in 26" wheels vs. 27.5" vs. 29", and brace yourself for the venom and vitriol that will spew forth onto your keyboard!) As bike manufacturers do their best to hustle their best designs into shops around the globe, a whole new array of dimensions are being offered.
Mixed wheel size eMTBs with a 29” front wheel and 27.5” claim to offer the best of both worlds and in many ways are a good compromise for riders of average height looking for versatile up- and downhill performance. The 29” front wheel smooths out obstructions on the trail, while a wider 27.5” rear tire provides maximum grip for
The primary sizes are 27.5 and 29 inches, as the 26-inch tire is predominantly used for kids’ bikes. The first step is to establish your wheel size and then choose a width.
The same tropes are true for ebikes as are for trail bikes. The full 29r setup provides a bit more ultimate grip at the expense of quick mid corner adjustment maneuverability. The full 29rs provide a bit better momentum and roll over for chunky/ledgey terrain. The mullets are easier to jump, drift and mess around on.

This $1,550 mountain bike is the kind of bike that I would be happy to recommend, without reservation as to quality or ride—a pretty rare and wonderful find. The Stance 29 2 is new for 2020
To get a similar handling feel to your 26" Ruffian you would keep your head and seat angles the same, the same axle to crown on the fork, and same top tube length. Then increase fork rake from 39mm to 42mm to get the same trail figure for steering feel. 26 bead seat diameter is 559mm; 27.5 bsd is 584mm. So that's a difference of 25mm at the rim

How much wider? 2.7-3.0in about covers it. They usually sit on wider rims too, 40-50mm internal width to allow the wider tyre to spread out properly and form the optimal shape. Those 27.5in Plus tyres near enough match up in external diameter to 29in tyres, which means some bike companies let you switch between the two wheel sizes.
When I put on 4.0 inch 26 tires on my 80mm they don't shape the same way the 27.5 4.0 tires would fit. with 26 you get some of the sidewall because 26 4.0 are made for 60-70mm wide rims not 80-100. My question is can I find a 26in 4.0 tire designed for a 80-100mm rim as the 27.5 4.0 tires are made for.
