As a fellow active duty Fenix user, I found the main upgrade between my 5x to 6x pro was music playback. Yeah, the bigger screen is great and the other metrics are nice, but if you aren't really wanting music, Garmin pay, or the big screen I'd hold off. You still have topo maps with mgrs on the 5x with decent battery life.

I kept my fenix 5X (also had a sapphire screen) for 2 years before this one and it was pristine just like day 1 when I sold it. That said, veteran watch makers apply an anti reflective coating to their sapphire watches which totally solves the reflection issue from what I've seen. Hopefully Garmin will start doing that with the fenix 7 series.
